Workforce Development Job Matching Platform to be Created for Offsite Construction

Jersey City, NJ: Momentum Innovation Group, LLC was recently chosen as one of 13 project recipients to be funded by the U.S. Department of Energy (“DOE”) to develop an Advanced Workforce for Advanced Technology. Momentum Innovation Group’s proposal, Construction Methodology Transformation for the Benefit of Workforce Development, will focus on developing a workforce development platform that will allow individuals entering the building workforce to access training content and job opportunities, specifically in the offsite construction industry. The resulting platform will be scalable nationwide, will integrate online and classroom training, and provide hands-on training inside modular factories. The platform will also allow potential employers to easily connect with students looking for employment in the offsite industry.

The DOE will be awarding $82.6 million in funding to 44 total projects that will potentially lower American’s energy bills and help meet President Biden’s goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 by investing in new energy efficient building technologies, construction practices, and the U.S. buildings-sector workforce.

“We are very excited to have the opportunity to build upon current educational materials and work with factories and teachers to create a path forward for the U.S. offsite construction workforce,” says Colby Swanson, Managing Partner at Momentum Innovation Group. “We welcome any suggestions on existing, successful curriculum that might be helpful in further developing our program.”

The curriculum development will begin next year and will be followed by the launch of a pilot program in Pennsylvania before being offered nationwide.
